Valentine’s Day Religious Crafts

Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to tell people how much they mean to you and how much you love them. Love is the central theme for this holiday. The actual origins of Valentine’s Day are somewhat unknown.  There are a lot of stories about it, but it is thought that there is some religious significance to the occasion. After all, the holiday is named after a saint. Here are some fun ideas for religious Valentine’s Day crafts.

Foam Heart Angel.
Angels are the companions of Christ, and what better way to celebrate the love of Valentine’s Day then to make angel crafts? A heart angel foam craft is a fun gift which can include candy and also has some religious significance for the holiday. Here’s how to make it:

Start by cutting two 4-inch hearts from foam. Glue the hearts together so that one is upside down, and the other is right side up, and the tips overlap. This is going to form the base of your angel, creating the wings and skirt of the angel. Use a lollipop for the angels head, inserting it through the overlap. You can use pipe cleaner to make a halo. On the back, write a scripture that is fitting for Valentine’s Day and love, such as “This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.” ~John 15:12~

Love Doorknob Hanger.
This doorknob hanger can be given as a gift or kept as a decoration. For this craft you will need a large piece of red card stock, a piece of white card stock, letter stickers, a glue stick, and scissors.

First, use the red card stock to cut out a door hanger. You can make it any size to fit right over the door knob. Cut out a smaller doorknob hanger from the white card stock, gluing it on so that it appears to be framed by the red doorhanger. Use the letters to spell out L-O-V-E down the doorknob hanger. Leave some room at the bottom to include the ever popular scriptural quote, “God is love.”

Christian Love Cards.
Another option is to create Valentine’s Day cards that have Christian context. There are numerous scriptures that deal with love, devotion, and all of the ideas that surround the holiday.Use them in creating your Valentine’s Day cards. Some good bible verses to look up and use in your cards include:

  • Deuteronomy 6:5
  • Psalm 18:1
  • Psalm 116:1
  • Psalm 145:20
  • Proverbs 8:17
  • Romans 8:28

Religious Valentine’s Day crafts are not only great to make, but also signify that you love God as well as your family and friends.
